Internship - Design & Mechanical Engineer

Stage
Toulouse
Start date :
September 1, 2026

As a Design Engineer intern, you will join the engineering office working directly with the CTO. The role is versatile: digital mock-up (DMU) and configuration management, detailed design and drafting, and hands-on industrial support on the shop floor. You will join at a key stage of the project: building a full-scale demonstrator for flight testing.

Your main missions

Digital Mock-Up (DMU) & configuration management
  • Build and maintain the product DMU (Fusion 360): assembly tree, spatial integration, clash detection.
  • Apply configuration management processes: naming, versioning, baselines and traceability.
Design & drafting
  • Perform detailed mechanical design of components, tooling and test equipment, from the dimensioned 3D model to the 2D manufacturing drawing.
  • Apply geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T) and aerospace drawing standards, working with the analysis engineers (structure, thermal, fluids).
Industrial engineering & shop-floor support
  • Support manufacturing and assembly on the shop floor: processes, fit-up, first-article validation.
  • Liaise with suppliers and take part in test bench and sub-system integration.

Required profile

  • Final-year student at an engineering school or specialized Master's in design or mechanical engineering, or propulsion.
  • Ideally a first experience in an engineering office, in a demanding industrial environment (aerospace, space, automotive, defense).

Required skills and qualities

  • Proficiency in a CAD tool (3D modeling, assembly, drafting; Fusion 360 a plus).
  • Knowledge of configuration management (changes, baselines, BOM) and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Hands-on ability to solve practical integration and manufacturing problems.
  • Rigor, team spirit; fluency in French and English.

Why join us

  • Join a fast-growing start-up at an early stage and contribute to high-impact technological projects.
  • Take part in building the team and the identity of Viraj Aero.
  • End-of-studies internship that may lead to a permanent position.

How to apply
Please send your CV and cover letter to careers@viraj-aero.com, specifying the position in the subject line. If your application is shortlisted, you will first be invited to an interview with our Managing Director, before the technical interviews.
