Asa senior structures and materials engineer, you will be the company’s go-to expert and technical authority on these topics. Your expertise will be applied across all building blocks of the concept and all design teams. You will join the team at a critical stage of development: building a full-scale demonstrator with flight testing. You will work closely with the CTO and all technical work package leads.
Your main responsibilities :
- Ensure the mechanical integrity and durability of all propulsive system components: fatigue life assessment, creep, corrosion and high-temperature environment resistance, structural analysis (FEA)
- Support and guide design teams on material selection and usage:
- Select and qualify materials suited to the engine’s harsh environments (Inconel, titanium, Hastelloy, etc.), considering weight, cost and manufacturability constraints.
- Perform thermo mechanical analyses (thermal expansion, gradients, thermal cycling) and FEA simulations on critical components: heat exchangers, combustion chambers, nozzles, rotors.
- Address heat exchanger clogging issues and propose appropriate design and maintenance solutions
- Provide cross-functional structural and materials expertise to all design teams, ensuring structural integrity and durability at every stage of development
- Write technical documents: structural calculation notes, FEA simulation reports, material specifications, test requirements, justification files, and contribute to patent filings
Profile sought :
- Graduate of a top engineering school or holder of a Master’s/PhD in structural mechanics, materials science or mechanical engineering.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in structural analysis and materials selection in a demanding environment, ideally within a major industrial group: aerospace, space, energy or automotive.
Required skills and qualities :
- Strong command of finite element structural analysis (FEA) and thermo mechanical analyses (thermal expansion, thermal cycling, gradients).
- Expertise in high-temperature material behavior: fatigue, creep, corrosion, oxidation —particularly on superalloys (Inconel, Hastelloy) and titanium alloys.
- Proven experience in material selection and qualification for harsh environments, andin overseeing characterization testing.
- Ability to operate cross-functionally across multidisciplinary teams as the structures and materials authority.
- Rigor, analytical mindset and strong organizational skills
- Ability to work in a team and collaborate with diverse profiles
- Knowledge of/ sensitivity to aerospace requirements and standards
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in both French and English.
